- gas hydrate-bearing formations
- geologic carbon sequestration sites
- saline and freshwater aquifers (including the vadose zone)
- sites contaminated by radionuclides or volatile organic compounds
ADVANTAGES:
- Can be used to predict the location of geothermal reserviors
- Models multiphase fluid and heat flow through porous and fractured media
- Various modules can be linked to the core of TOUGH+ to describe different fluids and their compositions, or to simulate more complex, coupled processes
