ABSTRACT:
Berkeley Lab’s Samveg Saxena has developed MyGreenCar, an app enabling selection of an energy efficient car model based on a user’s unique driving style and patterns.
A user installs the app and selects cars of interest from a database of almost 5,000 car models. As the user drives in typical traffic and topography, the MyGreenCar model predicts and summarizes fuel costs, fuel economy, battery states-of-charge, and other outcomes for the selected cars, enabling the user to find the car that best fits his or her driving needs.
The app has been highlighted in Popular Science and in a short film series detailing the research team’s commercialization and customer interview process.
DEVELOPMENT STAGE: Beta app available at the MyGreenCar website.
