A team of Berkeley Lab researchers led by Peter Therkelsen has developed a natural gas combustion technology offering extremely low nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
The invention is configured to combine a fuel and air mixture to produce a fully homogeneous and uniform flow of combustion while allowing a secondary bypass air stream to mix with primary combustion reactions to cool and dilute the mixture, thus lowering the combustion temperature.
DEVELOPMENT STAGE: Proven principle.
STATUS: Patent pending. Available for licensing or collaborative research.
