The Darfur cookstove, designed at Berkeley Lab and recently licensed to Oakland-based Potential Energy, was featured on KQED’s Quest website. Potential Energy will produce and deliver the stoves to people in need in the Sudan. The Darfur stove works with traditional regional cookstoves to operate more efficiently, reducing the time and resources to obtain firewood. Limiting trips beyond camps to gather firewood also increases the personal safety of women refugees.
