Is Software Support provided with my software purchase?
Berkeley Lab Marketplace does not provide any software support for all the software sold in the Marketplace. All software is sold as is.
Who can answer general questions about the Berkeley Lab Marketplace?
Email marketplace@lbl.gov for assistance or if you encounter Berkeley Lab marketplace site problems.
Who can help with my software order?

Do software download links expire?
Links to download commercial software do expire. Links to download open source software do not expire.
Can I return get a refund on I software purchased? Can I exchange software purchased incorrectly?
All sales are final. Berkeley Lab cannot provide refunds or exchanges for products ordered in the marketplace.
What type of license am I agreeing to with a software purchase?
Terms and conditions of each product are specified in the license agreement.
What type of promotional pricing do you offer?
Purchasing certain software products may entitle the purchasing organization to special upgrade prices for a new version, when released.
What is the currency for Software sold in Berkeley Lab Marketplace?
All software sales in the marketplace are in USD.

Where can I find documentation on using TOUGH?

TOUGH License ownership
- Commercial License – The license is owned by the organization and not an individual.
- Non-Commercial License – The license is owned by the department.
- Academic License – The license is owned by the department.
- TOUGH software is a perpetual license for the “version” purchased.
How many times can the software be installed?
There are no limits to the amount of seats/installations of the software under the organization/department.
How can students obtain TOUGH software?
Students purchasing TOUGH software will need to provide their professor’s name for validation of software purchase. We require that the software be ordered by and sent to the name of a faculty member or a departmental administrative person who has purchasing authority. Students requesting to purchase TOUGH software under the academic license pricing, when not authorized by an organization for purchase,will be declined.
How can Collaborators purchase TOUGH software?
Collaborators will need to provide the name of whom they are collaborating with at LBNL. LBNL will then validate this information before the purchase can be approved.
What are the license requirements for U. S. Federal government contractors using TOUGH?
Contractors of the U.S. Federal government who require the use of TOUGH, may order the software under a U.S. federal government license. They will need to provide the appropriate contract award number and agency name. LBNL will then validate this information before the purchase can be approved.
Do TOUGH software commercial licenses allow distribution?
No.
How can my company become a TOUGH software reseller?

Are discounts and special pricing available for TOUGH software purchased outside of LBNL?
No.
How may third party resellers of TOUGH Software operate?
They may place the purchase order for TOUGH software for their customer. Customer information will need to be provided for validation of the order, and the license is granted to the customer, not the reseller.
Will SPAM and firewall filters block the email with TOUGH software download instructions?
They may. Configure your SPAM and firewall filters to allow the email.
Is TOUGHREACT-Pitzer available for purchase?
Only if you have previously purchased TOUGHREACT or purchasing now.
What’s the difference between Source and Binary/Executable?
- Source code (also referred to as source or code) is the version of software as it is originally written (i.e., typed into a computer) by a human in plain text (i.e., human readable alphanumeric characters).
- Executable code or an executable file or executable program, sometimes simply referred to as an executable or binary, causes a computer “to perform indicated tasks according to encoded instructions,” as opposed to a data file that must be parsed by a program to be meaningful.
Does TOUGH software have a GUI (graphical user interface) program?
No.
