Researchers at Berkeley Lab have developed RFB Model, a physics-based 2D simulation model for redox flow batteries comprising an ionic and metallic couple. The model can predict cell performance during charge and discharge, and performance can be modeled at different states of charge. RFB Model can also be used to understand the transient performance and evolution of the state of charge.
DEVELOPMENT STAGE: The model is developed in COMSOL® version 5.1.
