Jasbir (Jesse) S. Kindra became the Chief Technology Transfer Officer at Berkeley Lab in June 2022. He is responsible for intellectual property strategy development and portfolio management to support the transition of Lab-developed technologies for the benefit of society and the U.S. economy.
Jesse brings to the Lab his experience from having worked in academia (University of Washington), government (National Institutes of Health) and industry (corporate/law firm). Prior to joining Berkeley Lab, Jesse was the Contracts Team Manager for the Office of Sponsored Programs at the University of Washington (UW) and an Adjunct Professor at the UW School of Law. While at UW, he previously served as the Executive Director, Center for Advanced Study and Research on Innovation Policy and also as the Assistant Vice President for Intellectual Property Management.
His experience at the National Institutes of Health includes Branch Chief for the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT), and prior to that role, Senior Licensing and Patenting Manager in OTT. He has also worked as Corporate Counsel and as a patent agent in previous positions.
