Acumen, a VC firm investing in early-stage companies that deliver products and services to the world’s poor, highlighted WaterHealth International in its #SeePeople campaign. The campaign illustrates the transformative effect of Acumen’s investees, such as the Berkeley Lab startup, on the lives of individuals in need.
WaterHealth International was founded on a Berkeley Lab technology, invented by Ashok Gadgil, to purify water inexpensively using ultraviolet light. Since its 1996 founding, WaterHealth’s water centers and dispensing facilities have provided clean drinking water to over five million people in India, Ghana and Nigeria.
